Hello Everyone, GarlicNoodles here! Thank you so much for sending your questions for our second Lacey Flash Games Q&A. This time we had over 440 questions received, whew! This is like, 4 times the amount that we received from the first one!
Of course I won't be able to cover all of them in this single post but, since we got such a nice reception, you can be reassured that a third Q&A will happen in the future!
Like last time, we got some repeated questions that I thought it would be a good idea to summarize here before going to the more specific ones. So here we go!
Q: Are we going to see more of Maisie and Jay?
A: Yeah, all girls we have their own games to dive into their personalities.
Q: How long will the game be?
A: It's hard to say, since everyone has their own play style. But we recovered some features from the original website that will definitely make you want to come back for more :)
Q: Will the game conclude Lacey Games story?
A: Yes. Unless we manage to find more stuff in the future.
Q: WHEN IS THE GAME COMING OUT!!!?!?!?
A: This year! sorry to keep you waiting, but we want to make it the best it can be for everyone!! So please just wait a little more, thank you for your patience.

A: I don't think so.

Q: Are there any other 'very silly beta sprites' you can show off? The Lacey Slacking one is really funny and I'd love to see more behind the scenes outtakes :D

Q: "What do you hope people who don't relate to the experiences shown in Lacey learn from it?" By: Novly
A: That's a great question. There are infinite number of experiences someone can live through their lifetime, obviously we might some people are lucky enough to share these experiences with someone else, even if not being 100% exactly. Sometimes, we may never be able to live something because of a number of factors, each one of them being based on the experiences an individual lived through.
But even if someone can never actually live them, we can at least work hard to say "hey! this exists and people can live through this!". And if in the end people are aware of the messages we are trying to send, then it's all worth it.

A: There are a lot of plans after Lacey, each member of the team brought up ideas of what to do next. Me personally, I want to either make a game with robots or tokusatsu heroes, or both idk.
Q: "Hey! I have a question for you if you can answer it if one day they made a homologous series, games of Lacey that is to say with: "opposite poles" "opposite aesthetics" "opposite genders" how would you react or what would you say? :^" By: ARTCh0-0
A: In my opinion, I believe Lacey's Flash Games is going to be what we want it to be.
People who play it might look of the ideas that we put into the game and have their own ideas on how to expand the concept. And I think this is amazing! What paths will they take? What points made an impact on them? How will they subvert the concept? If Lacey's Flash Games can be something to strike interest in creating, I'm all for it.

Thank you so much for submitting your questions, we are truly thankful for your support.
There are some questions that unfortunately we aren't able to give definitive answers due to the nature of game development, but we didn't want to be radio silent because we know you are as excited for this game as we are. So, in this first section, I compiled some of the questions we may not be able to give a clear answer at this moment.
Q: When will the game be released?
A: This year.
Q: What's the percentage of completion?
A: Between 70% - 80%
Q: What's the price of the game?
A: We are still on looking on setting up the final price, since each region has their own set of realities around that. But be assured that we want to bring a price that's fair for everyone.
So now with that, let's get on with your questions:
Q: Are there going to be other voice actors in the full game? By: emmerss
A: Yes, we weren't able to retrieve some audio files from the original release, so we had to recreate them from zero using the references we had to preserve the original experience. That being said, you can expect some voice lines made by me, hope you can figure out who I voice in the full release.
Q: Will certain background characters be getting names? By: 87BAAF
A: So this is actually a funny question.
Aside from the Jammers, most of the characters you see in game don't really have an "official name" if not being directly said so. Sometimes it's not in the files or I guess this was something neither Rocio or Grace really thought about in the original release...
So for most of the time I just give them some names that are easy for me to recognize them based on the type of game their in.
So for example, if a game has characters showing up in a set order like in Lacey's Slacking, then I just give them names in alphabetical order so it's easy to know who's who. Like the first character I give her a name like Barbara and the next one Donald and so on and so forth.
But with others where it's random like Lacey's Petshop them I just give them names for whatever I feel like to be honest. Like the girl with the fish is Bubbles, the rat kid is Jerma and the gekko guy is Pedro.
So, unless we are able to find their names in the original files, I don't think they have official names, I'm sorry.
Q: Why are you so handsome GarlicNoodles? By: VDrew
A: It's just a side-effect of being myself.
Q: Will a Mac version be available either on release or a little later? By: le-Slapstick-Chump
A: Yes! We are working hard to not leave anyone behind, so you can expect a Mac version being released a little later and a Linux version being available on launch.
Q: What inspired you to make the Lacey Games series an actual game? By: Zeph
A: This was more of a team effort than just me but, both abacath and ghosttundra wanted to bring back the games you see on their videos to preserve this part of internet history.

Q: How many minigames will the game have and its duration? By: Brutalguy22
A: We managed to recover at this point in time about 10 games from the original release, there some still that are in our list to recover but some of them are really hard to track all the files.
So for these games, we need sometimes to recreate some assets and try to emulate the feel of the gameplay from videos alone, it's really challenging!
As for the time, I can't give you the exact time, but it would be between 0 to 1 Trillion hours to have the complete experience I believe?
Q: What was the hardest part of making the game? By: @freaky_igorek
A: Since we are recreating the games from scratch, it's really hard to build these games keeping the original look and feel without the technical hurdles of that era.
Some of these games you don't really see being released nowadays so there's always that little bug in the back of my head asking "Are they going to find this fun?" or "Is this too simple?". But seeing the reception of the demo last year kept me pushing forward, so thank you for your support.
On top of that, there's these weird glitches whenever we are trying to get the files, as like someone is messing with us and trying making it harder to actually work on the game...

A: Thank you so much! Yes, all the girls will have their own games. Most of their games reflect their personality, so I hope you can piece together what type of game she will have ;)
Q: Will there be little bit of secrets in the game? By: Fleetway
A: It's a secret.
Q: Will We Get To See More Jammer Characters? By: TheMultiFandomLogoRecreator
A: Yes, the iconic singing cat character from Jammers will make his return in the final release.
Q: Will there be a final boss fight in the lacey game? By: DJ
A: Yes, you will have to fight me.
Q: How does the game have several small windows, instead of one large one? By: GooberDaniel
A: Most of the games on the original website appeared on a brand new window when clicked, so we wanted to recreate the original experience as closely as possible.
You will be able to resize the main website window in the final release.
Q: Is there going to be a confirmed "main villain" in the game or will it be left to the player to see who's at fault? By: destroyer341
A: The main villain at this point is the glitches we come up across when trying to recover the original files. So if you want to blame something you can blame that I guess.

A: Greetings! Working on games is something very solitaire i'd say, so being able to see the community play your game after a long period of development and enjoy it is the most rewarding thing for me.
Aside from that, I get to create some very silly beta sprites while working on the game and I have a lot of fun doing so. Like this one:

A: I'm sorry but with the technology we have today, I don't think the game engine would be able to support a presence such as yours. I hope technology can continue to evolve to make this happen!
Q: I'm kinda worried that the game will continue the original series' story but it may will confuse anyone new to the project. Will there be playable recaps/retellings of the first four episodes of the series in the game? By: Hugorrr
A: That's a fair thing to be worried about! Most of the information about the girls and the game has been scattered around in a lot of medias. So, with the release of the full game, we have a plan to make the experience concise to new and old fans of the series!
Q: What do the "mistakes" or "bugs" in the game look like? By: ap0phen1a
A: There are no "mistakes" or "bugs" in the games I program! If you see any of those things it can only be some type of external influence.
Q: Will Jessica receive any more content? By: torturingleaf
A: Oh! So you played the original? I'm a Jessica fan too!
She's one of my favorite characters, but is sad that she only shows up for that one Maisie game right? But we must cherish that amazing appearance on that game and hope she learned a thing or two from that lol.
Q: Are you going to make your own merch like Glitch Productions, or will you do more collaborations with companies like Youtooz or Makeship? By: ZZZKomaeda
A: I believe ghosttundra has some plans for that in the future, but nothing to confirm at this moment.

A: Thanks you! As for the stylistic differences, if we are not able to retrieve the original, then ghosstundra makes new and almost identical assets to put in the game, is magic really!
Q: Hi! I’m really looking forward to your game! Without further ado, here are some questions: 1) In February, you promised to release an update to the game’s demo version, so why is it still not available? 2) How many endings will the game have in total? 3) Your Devlog page on the website has been empty for months, though there are some spoilers here and there on the dev's Instagram accounts. Why is that? 4) When will translations into other languages be available? By: Koshirin
A: This is a big one, so I'll tackle it one by one.
1) This update is still planned, whoever the full release of the game took priority over it. We are aware that some players are unable to play the demo still, so be assured that the demo will be updated.
2) Well there's a lot of minigames already so... Since each one of them have their own ending... urgh I can't even do the math!
3) Yes, we are aware. We want to give you more updates but that comes with a cost of how much we will spoil by doing so. We created this Q&A to try to be more in touch with you all and also updating the devlog.
4) We already have some new languages that are being added to the full release such as Japanese and Hungarian. New ones will be added in the future.

It took a while, but it’s finally here:
since the demo launch, many people have reached out to help with localization for the game. We’d like to sincerely thank everyone and share that we’ll soon be releasing a localization update in four languages, along with credits for everyone who contributed.
Thank you all so much! The update is expected to go live at the end of this month, and we’re really excited about what’s ahead. We’ve also been working on porting several new games and hope to share more news soon.

Hi everyone! We’ve reached the end of our character design contest, and we want to sincerely thank all of you who participated. We received 1,606 submissions, filled with amazing artwork :))) every single drawing had its own charm, and it was truly difficult to choose just one winner. We’re working hard with grace and charlie to recover the old lacey games files. It’s been tricky, we’ve had a lot of crashes while restoring the data, and my PC just broke again last week, which slowed things down a bit :p
Because of that, the game’s release will be moved to 2026.
but we also have some good news: we're working on a lot of exciting content, including translations, contests, and new surprises coming in the next few days. Stay tuned for updates on this website and the official Discord server.
